Elevator Pitch 3


I did not get any feedback on my last elevator pitch. I think the second one was probably better than the third one as far as being clear and getting my message across. However, the second pitch was about 45 seconds too long which also made it harder to memorize. I tried not to look at the camera and pretend like I was looking at a crowd, but I didn't really accomplish that. It definitely looks fake to me. I was more dynamic this time because I guess I was more comfortable, but I cringe watching it! While this assignment did get easier over the course of the three times I completed it, I am still not completely comfortable in front of the camera. I think that is just my personality. When I took speech class, even after five speeches in front of my peers, my voice still shook and I was incredibly uncomfortable.

The Bug List

1) My absolute biggest bug is that my dog has glaucoma and there is not really a long-term treatment option other than removal of her eyes . It's maybe the biggest bug of my entire life. Another factor to this bug is I suspect it was her most recent rabies shot that caused it. But ultimately, the bug is why isn't there treatment? The first reason is that doctors and researchers don't even have great treatment options for a lot of diseases that afflict humans. Celebrating Failure

I have failed many, many times in both this class and other classes. Getting in-person interviews has been my downfall. I have missed several assignments in this class, and one very major 100-point assignment in another class. The first reason this failure happens is because I am nervous. I only know so many people and I am not going to approach a stranger to ask them about something I need for school. I also wait too long to contact people; if I have another class where I need to interview a professional or do a job shadow next semester, I am going to contact them the first day of class. I've had professional reporters agree to let me interview them and then not answer my email for three weeks (past my assignment deadline). Most people ignore my requests/emails. For one class, my email was forwarded to every teacher at my former high school and only one responded. Halfway Reflection

1)  Tenaciousness is a competency.  What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? This course will require you to approach people and talk to them. If that's not something you're comfortable with already, you will be when you're done. I personally am very timid when it comes to talking to people, so I have had to work on developing that behavior throughout this course.     2)  Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
